Admissions

Transfer arrangements for our Year 6 pupils going to Secondary School are sent to parents during the Spring Term prior to their children starting in September. These arrangements include visits by school staff, transition visits by our Year 6 pupils and Parents' Open Evenings when you can visit the school and meet the teachers who will be directly involved with your child/children.
Admission arrangements

Admissions

Although St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School is a Catholic School within the Diocese of Clifton it is ‘Open to All’ regardless of Religion. By law, the Governors of the School control admissions to the school and admit children to the school in accordance with their published Admissions policy. The Admissions Policy can be found in full below.

In-Year Applications

An application can be made for a place for a child at any time outside the usual admission round. An application should be made to the school by completing the in-year admissions application form and returning it to the school office or by email to secretary@stjosdevizes.wilts.sch.uk along with, where appropriate, any supporting evidence. All applications will be considered by the Governing Body and a place offered if one is available. Where there are places available but there are more applications than places, the published oversubscription criteria, as set out in the current admission arrangements below, will be applied. Parents are advised to read the admission arrangements carefully before making their application.

If you have any questions in relation to in-year admissions, please contact the school office by email - secretary@stjosdevizes.wilts.sch.uk.

Admissions for September 2026

The application window for September 2026 is now closed but late applications can be made by emailing direct to admissions@wiltshire.gov.uk

Please remember that if your child was 4 years old on or before 31st August 2026 you will need to apply for a place in the Reception Class for September 2026. Forms must normally be completed through the Wiltshire Council online system at www.wiltshire.gov.uk by the 15th January. Once this deadline has passed, late applications must be emailed direct to admissions@wiltshire.gov.uk.

The school's Published Admission Number (PAN) for September 2026 is 30.

By law a child does not have to start school until the term following their fifth birthday.  However, most children start school in the September following their fourth birthday.

All children will be offered a full time place but, if you would prefer your child to attend part-time or to delay entry until later on in the academic year, please contact the school directly to arrange this.  All September admissions are administered by the Local Authority.
